Jupiter prepares for race series

An upcoming endurance event in Jupiter will give participants a choice of four contests.

The Turtleman Triathlon honors the memory of Dr. Frank Cook, who had served as an orthopedic surgeon at Jupiter Medical Center for almost 25 years. Dr. Cook was in private practice and focused on sports injuries, consulting with the LA Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals, Montreal Expos, and Florida Marlins. He was physically fit himself, and enjoyed baseball, swimming, biking, and running.

The four races available are the Turtleman Triathlon Super Spring, which includes a 300-yard swim, a five-mile bike ride, and a 1.6-mile run. The start time is 7.00 am.

The second and third options are the Turtleman Triathlon Sprint and the Spring Relay. Both offer a 600-yard swim, a 10-mile bike ride consisting of two loops, and a 3.1-mile run. These segments start at 7.30 am.

The fourth contest is the Turtleman Spring Duathlon, which includes a one-mile run, a 10-mile bike ride of two loops, and a 3.1-mile run. This segment begins at 7.20 am.

The Turtleman Triathlon is scheduled for June 22, and the races are all at different price points. Participants will be able to pick up their packets on June 19, 20, and 21 at Bikes Palm Beach on Highway 1 in Juno Beach. There is no packet pickup available the day of the race. When events such as this are planned, organizers will often contact printers who use banner printing to create course markers.
