Jupiter families to go fishing

AustinBlu Foundation and River Center invites Jupiter families to attend its AustinBlu fishing tournament coming in June. Anglers will be able to compete from land or sea.

There will be a Release Competition and a Harvest Competition running simultaneously. In the Release Competition, points will be scored for the species/number of fish caught. Each fish must be photographed with angler’s identifying tournament Logo Design (which will be on tournament shirts, lanyards, or bracelets) before being released.

Fish weight will be the focus of the Harvest Competition. Anglers will be vying to catch the heaviest sheepshead, snapper, crevalle jack or checkered puffer.

Fishing in both competitions will begin at 7:00 am and end at 3:00 pm. Contestants in the Harvest Competition will have one hour to weigh and submit their catches at River Center.

An after celebration will start at 5:00 pm. The Food Shack will have beverages and food and guests can try their hand at dehooking and knot-tying activities. Mang Gear will have mangrove plants for planting. Winners in the Harvest Competition will be announced at 7:00 pm.

Event shirts sporting this year’s tournament graphic design can be picked up at River Center’s drive-thru from 5:00 pm until 7:00 on June 25.

The 2021 AustinBlu Foundation Land and Sea Fishing Tournament will take place June 26 at The River Center in Burt Reynolds Park, and proceeds will benefit the foundation’s efforts to promote boat safety. Online registration will begin May 1.
