Jupiter families go fishing

The AustinBlu foundation and River Center have joined forces and are presenting the AustinBlu Family fishing tournament coming in mid-June.

This will be a fundraiser for AustinBlu Foundation, whose mission is to educate the public about water safety.

The one-day event will have two contests. Anglers can opt to enter the Release Competition or the Harvest Competition.

Winners in the Release Competition will have the most points for species/number of fish that they caught, photographed, and released. Avid anglers at events such as this usually take the pictures of their winning catch to Print shops for poster printing.

The Harvest Competition winners will catch the heaviest fish in Saltwater Catfish, Snapper, Crevalle Jack, or Checkered Puffer categories.

Fishing will begin at 7:00 am. At 3:00 pm all lines must be out of the water. Anglers in the Harvest Competition must have their catches weighed and submitted by 4:00 pm.

Food Shack will have beverages and food available at the tournament celebration starting at 5:00 pm. The venue will have family activities such as a campfire, bounce house and arts and crafts from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, before it comes to a close at 8:00 pm.

Tickets for children entering either contest will run $25. Adult angler tickets are $50.

The AustinBlu Family Fishing Tournament will be June 15 at River Center, 805 N US Highway 1.
