A rapper who has used his life to shape his art is coming to Denver.
Kalan.FrFr played instruments as a child, but his real dream was to be a professional football player. He won a football scholarship to San Diego State University, but discovered the game was not for him. He turned back to music, and began to build his career in rap. He knew breaking into professional entertainment would be as tough as making it in pro sports, but he powered forward, leaning into the lessons he had picked up on the field to look to the next play and keep going.
From this background, Kalan.FrFr has built a successful career. Support from family and friends gave the artist the confidence to launch two projects in 2018 – “TwoFr” and “Hurt.” The latter told Kalan’s story, and listeners related to it instantly. “TwoFr,” meanwhile, was much more light-hearted, and showed Kalan’s free-spirited. Among the tracks are “Scoring,” an exuberant party track, and the more reflective “I Gotta Kno,” with the two songs showcasing different aspects of his personality.
Eventually, Kalan hopes to open resource centers and schools for children with disabilities such as autism. He will be at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver on Friday, January 20. Organizers of events like this can turn to poster printing to create effective advertising.
