Lionel Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire are set to perform, in what many will perceive to be a “don’t miss” show.
Richie got his start in 1968 with the Commodores. The group was emblematic of the “Motown Sound,” a mix of soul, gospel, and blues that came out of Detroit. Richie went solo in 1982 with “Lionel Richie,” his debut album, which sold more than four million copies. “Can’t Slow Down,” his second album, won two Grammys and sold twice as many copies. He has sold more than 100 million records globally during his career. A review says:
“Lionel Richie was born to entertain. He is a god on stage.”
Earth, Wind & Fire has also sold more than 100 million records. Maurice White formed the group in 1969 in Chicago with the intention of writing songs for commercials, and asked his friends, Wade Flemons and Don Whitehead, to join him. They were signed by Capitol Records, but their first single “La La Time” did not perform well. White left Chicago for Los Angeles and changed the name of the group to Earth, Wind & Fire, added several new members, and the rest is history. A review of this band notes:
“EWF...the best show I ever had!!...I danced and enjoyed the wonderful music.”
The superstars will be in Denver on September 5 at the Ball Arena. Organizers of events like this can promote them using poster printing techniques.
