Music-making duo to appear in Denver

Florida siblings who have blended numerous genres into a sound uniquely their own are coming to Denver next month.

St. Petersburg, Florida’s Ries Brothers are making a mark in the music industry. Kevin and Charlie Jordan are the bandsmen. They are in their twenties, and are already veterans, since they started playing in various bars in Florida in their teens. Charlie is the lead vocalist, as well as handling keyboard bass and drumming, while Jordan provides backing vocals as well as playing an array of instruments including the ukulele, theremin, guitar, and melodica.

The theremin is an electronic instrument that produces notes without being touched. The “spooky” quality of the music has made it a favorite of science fiction composers like Miklós Rózsa, who used it in his soundtrack for “Spellbound.”

The iconic band Chicago discovered the brothers when the latter were playing the clubs in Florida. The Jordans were invited on two tours with Chicago, leading them to concentrate on their music rather than education.

The brothers’ career started moving quickly after that, and they found themselves performing at important festivals, as well as touring with artists like G Love & Special Sauce. In addition, they began touring as the headliners themselves. A review of a concert said simply:

“Bros killed it.”

The Ries Brothers will be at the Larimer Lounge in Denver on June 10. When concerts like this are scheduled, organizers can promote them by using poster printing to create advertising.
