Grammy winning singer-songwriter set for Denver

He charted many times and is at home in R&B, jazz, and blues, and soon he will appear in Denver.

Boz Scaggs had learned to play guitar by the time he was 12, and started his career at age 15, performing as a vocalist with Steve Miller, who had a band called the Marksmen at the time. After finishing school, Scaggs spent time in the UK and Europe before returning to the United States and reuniting with Miller in 1967. In 1968, he recorded two albums, “Sailor” and “Children of the Future,” with the Steve Miller Band and was signed by Atlantic Records.

His breakthrough came in 1976 when he released “Silk Degrees,” which climbed to the No. 2 spot on the US charts. The album was certified 5x Platinum by the RIAA, 6x Platinum by ARIA, and the BPI awarded it a silver. The record was nominated for a Grammy for Album of the Year and contained four singles that were monster hits: “Lido Shuffle,” “What Can I Say,” “Lowdown,” and the ballad “We’re All Alone.”

The mid-1970s were the most successful years of Scaggs’ career, but he has continued performing, recording, and touring. A review says:

“Boz Scaggs brought his patented blend of blue-eyed soul, rock, blues, and jazz . . . Scaggs [gave] . . . a riveting 90-minute performance.”

Boz Scaggs will be at Denver’s Paramount Theatre on June 18. When events like this are scheduled, attractive publicity can be created using poster printing.
