Seven Falls, a natural attraction southwest of Colorado Springs, is set to welcome patrons once more after being closed for two years.

The series of falls, which are located in South Cheyenne Canyon, were extensively damaged by heavy rains, necessitating the closure.

The famous Broadmoor Hotel bought the falls last year, changing its name to the Broadmoor Seven Falls. The hotel repaired the damage caused by the flood waters, and added several new attractions including a new restaurant, a hiking trail that leads into the canyon from its entrance, and zip lines.

Steve Bartolin, chairman of the board of the Broadmoor, said the reason for the makeover of Seven Falls was to create a park-like setting that utilizes the entire canyon. For instance, the trail has been devised in such a way that it enhances the canyon's scenic beauty, while Restaurant 1858, named for the year the Gold Rush started in the area, will serve fine cuisine. Zip lines will let visitors soar through the treetops.

Improvements include enhanced lighting and landscaping to make the entire Cheyenne Creek more welcoming, rather than having all activities concentrated at the end of the canyon nearest the hotel.

Broadmoor Seven Falls will reopen to the public this Thursday, August 13. Broadmoor management could work with brochure printers to create a new booklet for guests that describes the renovations and improvements to the falls area.
