Shoppers looking for unusual items, many made from other goods, have a chance to go on the lookout for these one-of-a-kind treasurers soon.

The Green Market will provide space for approximately 50 Colorado artisans to display and sell their unique products.

Sara Krosch, who founded and produces Maker Fair Handcrafted Artisan Festivals, noted that artists are making jewelry out of computer parts, or taking old material and making funky baby clothes from it. The artists are repurposing many different products, and Krosch says the idea is appealing to a lot of people.

At the Green Market, vendors include TechWears, a company that turns circuit boards into pendants, earrings, cufflinks, and neckties. Also present are Off the Leash Art, which does portraits of pets, and Boho Belles, a company that creates wearable art from magazine pages.

The market is juried, according to Krosch, and is set apart by the fact that artists are asked to tell their stories. She notes they are competing with brick-and-mortar stores, but at the market, their customers can get to know them, and how they began creating their wares.

The market sets aside areas for children to do make-and-take projects, as well as holding a gnome scavenger hunt, complete with prizes.

The Green Market takes place tomorrow, August 6, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, in Colorado Springs' Acacia Park on Platte Avenue.
