Colorado Springs to welcome back hotel

On September 30, Wyndham Hotel Group announced The Antlers, an historic hotel, was reopening as part of the Wyndham organization.

Perry R. Sanders, Jr. and John Geode own The Antlers, and note it has undergone an extensive renovation that has transformed the lobby, 273 suites and guest rooms, and restaurants, as well as more than 27,000 square feet of meeting rooms and event spaces.

The hotel was first opened in 1883 by General William Jackson Palmer, who founded Colorado Springs. Palmer used the building to house his hunting trophy collection. At the time, the hotel was referred to as ‘Little London’ because of the large number of English tourists who stayed there. The Antlers offered all the amenities of its time, including gaslight, steam heat, and an elevator. The Antlers has been rebuilt twice, once in 1901 after a fire, and a second time in 1967. It is still located on its original site.

The Antlers is in the center of the city, and affords guests fantastic views of the Rockies and Pike's Peak. Its location means it is within walking distance of restaurants, museums, and shops. The hotel's opening means the Wyndham Hotel Group has continued to increase its presence in the region, with 15 hotels operating.
