Colorado Springs has announced that it will again be holding its unique Fruitcake Toss event.

The event – which comes in many different categories and has options for a variety of different ages – draws in people from across the state.

The annual event is exactly what it sounds like – attendees bake a fruitcake and then fling it as far as they can, with winners possible in various categories, including distance, accuracy, and three-man slingshot toss. The event will also offer fun for the entire family, including food, drinks, and fruitcake costumes.

Despite the destructive nature of the event, organizers are quick to note that the event is not just meant to destroy fruitcakes but to celebrate them. As such, there will also be a baking contest, and attendees are encouraged to bring their best fruitcake.

The event itself will be on January 29, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. It will be held at Manitou Springs National Park. There is no cost to attend, but event attendees are asked to bring one can of food. The ultimate beneficiary of the event is the Manitou Springs Food Bank.
