Woodland Hills students help those in need

Elementary and Middle School students in Woodland Hills recently joined together to support a nonprofit agency that helps collect hair for young cancer victims. This is the sixth year in a row in which the students have banded together to show their support.

The organizers of this yearly event work together with ‘Children With Hair Loss’, which is a nonprofit agency founded 19 years ago, currently headquartered in South Rockwood, Michigan. The group works with local salon partners in hundreds of cities and towns across the United States. These salons could contact local Print shops to obtain poster printing services to advertise their partnership with this and any other nonprofits.

The students, along with several teachers and parents, gathered at the Serrania Charter School to on Friday, February 8 to contribute their donations. This year, the donations totaled roughly 30 feet of hair, which will be woven into wigs for children and young adults who have lost their hair during their treatments. The recipients of the donations do not have to pay for their new hair thanks to the work the agency does to help support their cause.

Many of the students walked away from the event feeling proud that they were able to do something to help others. Some of the students, who are repeat contributors, say they will immediately start growing their hair again for next year’s event.
