What's Happening in Simi Valley, CA…

Simi Valley to celebrate the apricot

A brand new festival is in the works in Simi Valley, and it will celebrate a stone fruit crop that was once widely grown in the area.

The Simi Valley Historical Society will soon be presenting its first Apricot Festival. Bringing some fruitful fun to mid-September, it will be on offer at Strathearn Park and Museum, and the organizers are hoping it attracts a large crowd.

The event will shine a light on the area's agricultural history, which at one time included its commercial apricot orchards. Attendees will be treated to music as well as other entertainment, and there will be a variety of small business and other vendors setting up shop, along with exhibits that showcase the area's history. Admission will be $5 per person, and the whole family is on the guestlist. The schedule for the day runs for six hours.

Planning an inaugural event can be both exciting and daunting, but local print shops can help lighten the load. They can prepare branding, including a unique logo design, which can be useful in building the buzz about any new activity.

The first ever Simi Valley Apricot Festival will celebrate the role farming has played in the area on Saturday, September 21. Its gates will open at 11:00 am. Strathearn Park is located at 137 Strathearn Place.
