Simi Valley set to salute its first responders
An annual event that honors the lives of Simi Valley’s first responders will soon be hitting the road, and it will give the community the chance to salute these local heroes.
The annual Ride for the Blue has been scheduled for early May, and motorcyclists from across Ventura County are encouraged to put their kickstands up and join in the procession. The ride will be getting started at Simi Valley City Hall, and it is reserved for motorcycles only.
This yearly event, which was originally initiated to honor the life of Sergeant Ron Helus, will open with registration and some brief announcements before it will be time to head out. A break will take place at noon for lunch, after which the riders will once again take to the road. A fee of $50 is being charged, and the monies collected will be donated to the Ventura County Community Foundation.
To thank the riders for their support, attendees will be treated to lunch and light refreshments, as well as corporate gifts such as a T-shirt featuring a special Ride for the Blue graphic design. Anyone with questions has been asked to call (800) 606-1390.
This annual salute of Simi Valley’s first responders will be hitting the road on Saturday, May 4. The staging area will be set up at 2929 Tapo Canyon.
