Simi Valley offers day to help with clearouts
Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center is set to provide a day when community members can access an assortment of services free of charge, helping them to properly dispose of unwanted items.
After they finish their spring clean, households served by the department can take refuse and recyclables to 2801 N. Madera Road for the venue’s Free Landfill Day activity. It will be running for six hours, and each attendee can bring up to two loads for disposal.
To take advantage of the offer, those interested will need to provide proof of residency, and to make the recycling process easier, they have been asked to separate these items from the rest of the trash. Loads should be covered so materials do not blow away. Hazardous products, electronics, commercial waste or vehicles, tires, liquids mercury, household batteries, and fluorescent light bulbs are not to be dropped off, as they cannot be accommodated. Anyone who needs more details can contact the department at (805) 579-7267.
Many communities offer spring cleanup days at their recycling centers and landfills. A flyer printing company can prepare mailers to distribute to local households so they will be aware of any relevant upcoming events.
Simi Valley has set its Free Landfill Day for Sunday, May 18. It will run from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm.
