Water lantern festival floats into San Jose

From the San Jose Jazz Summer Fest to the Fountain Blues & Brews Festival, the San Jose community knows how to celebrate the summer months with a wide range of high-energy events, but this upcoming event aims to float in a different kind of energy to the summer festivities.

Almaden Lake Park was designed with summer activities in mind. Featuring a 32-acre lake as well as bocce courts and trails, it is an ideal location for the upcoming Water Lantern Festival.

The Water Lantern Festival originates from South Asia, with the lantern's representation varying depending on what is depicted on it. This family-friendly event in San Jose is meant to create a peaceful but fun festival that unites the community. The festival launches with a range of local food trucks and fun games and activities designed to bring the community together and foster new relationships. Then festival participants will have a chance to transform their lanterns and decorate them before they launch them into the lake. The festival concludes with watching Almaden Lake slowly become illuminated with the lanterns the community has created.

Event coordinators who need to organize a number of people across an event may provide attendees with printed instructions on Flyers about what they need to do.

The 2025 Water Lantern Festival will be floating into Almaden Lake Park in July with three dates: July 18, 19, 20, with the gate opening at 5:30 pm.
