An upcoming celebration is set to bring jazz to San Jose.
The San Jose Jazz Summer Fest 2024 is bringing some of the best jazz musicians working today to California to take part in a three-day party. The artists will be playing R&B, Latin, Blues, salsa, the music of New Orleans, and more across nine stages.
The lineup of talent is a dream for jazz lovers and includes greats like Herbie Hancock, the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, and international superstar Angélique Kidjo. Kidjo is a five-time Grammy winner and a 2023 Polar Music Prize laureate. Time magazine dubbed her “Africa’s premier diva” in 2007, and in 2021, included her on their list of the world’s 100 most influential people.
Other headliners include Delfeayo Marsalis and the Uptown Jazz Orchestra. Delfeayo has three brothers: Branford, Wynton, and Jason. Delfeayo and his group tour internationally and have dropped three albums. They move easily among New Orleans, Latin, and swing, and introduce NOLA to a whole new generation.
The legendary Herbie Hancock has been a leader in the music industry since the 1960s, and The Family Stone is known for their classic hits “Dance to the Music” and “Hot Fun in the Summertime,” and others, and are continuing the legacy of Sly and the Family Stone.
The jazz festival is August 9, 10, and11 at stages located throughout the downtown area. When events like this are planned, organizers often use flyer printing to create a guide to the venues that includes a map.
