Redondo Beach meetup to offer surfing and healing

Next month, the Surf for Keenan Foundation will hold the Surf Lessons and Therapy at Redondo Beach event for those either wanting to learn to surf or just needing a listening ear.

The Surf for Keenan Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides peer support, resources, and life skills to young people recovering from drug and alcohol addictions. The foundation was created in remembrance of Garrison Keenan Barret, a beloved member of the Redondo Beach community.

The surfing event is open to everyone regardless of their surfing ability. Expert surfers will be present to guide participants through surfing basics. Those who do not surf are also welcome to attend and enjoy hot coffee and bagels on the beach while meeting new friends. Those who plan to surf will need to bring their own board and wetsuit. Board and suits can also be rented from Dive N’ Surf before the event. The meeting location will be designated by a banner with Surf for Keenan printed on it.

Banners are often an ideal decoration option for open-air events like this one. Organizers can receive help printing theirs at businesses specializing in professional banner printing services.

The free surfing event is scheduled for April 30 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. It will take place in front of Perry’s Cafe and Beach Rental located at 387 Paseo De La Playa.
