The public is invited to attend a barbeque following a Memorial Day service to be held at the Veterans Memorial in Veterans Park on Memorial Day.
The event is sponsored by the Veterans Memorial Task Force, Redondo Beach Elks Lodge #1378 and the City of Redondo Beach.
The Redondo Beach Veterans Memorial Task Force is a volunteer organization of veterans and local citizens. The task force raised funds over the years and was able to open a new Veterans memorial in 2011. Community members can help support continued fundraising efforts for the memorial by purchasing engraved bricks to honor their loved ones.
Each year, a memorial is held with many attendees in uniform – or in red, white, and blue – to honor those who served and who are currently serving. At the entrance to the memorial during the Memorial Day Service is a large banner with the City of Redondo Beach’s Veterans Memorial Logo Design recognizing all five military branches – the Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, and Coast Guard. The Veterans Memorial site also hosts Veterans Day ceremonies in November.
The barbeque is held immediately following the service and is free for all Veterans, members of the military, and first responders. All others are requested to make a $5 donation.
The event will be held on Monday, May 27 at 1:00 pm. The park is located at 309 The Esplanade in Redondo Beach.
