Veterans and locals join forces for cause
A Veterans Day beach cleanup event is set to take place at Newport Beach Pier this November. Recycle for Veterans will be hosting it.
The event invites local veterans, active-duty service members, and community volunteers to join forces in preserving the environment. Participants will work together to remove plastic litter and debris from the beach, preventing them from washing into the sea.
Volunteers are asked to arrive at the checking location 15 minutes early to receive gloves and bags. Recommended attire includes long pants, sturdy closed-toe shoes, protective caps, and sunscreen. All other essential equipment will be supplied. Attendees should note that this event will take place rain or shine and no pets are permitted for safety reasons.
After the cleanup, participants are encouraged to support regional companies by dining with other volunteers and veterans. The event is part of an ongoing initiative by veteran-operated teams that aim to encourage veterans to lead environmental efforts nationwide. This initiative also aims to help veterans repurpose their administrative skills through community service.
