The Recreation and Senior Services Department of Newport Beach is getting set to host the Mayor's 5th Annual Egg Race, in honor of Easter and the arrival of spring.
Staffers from the city will coordinate the activities, including a number of games, sack races, and the all-important egg races, which will be held on the lawn. The Civic Center bunnies will be available for those who wish to have their photos taken with the friendly rabbits. In addition, people coming to the event will find train rides, face painting, and bounce houses, as well as treats such as cotton candy, popcorn, and more.
Since the mayor of Newport Beach only has a term of one year, the traditional egg roll did not start with the current incumbent of the office, but has been happily embraced by every mayor since the first egg rolled across the green. It is unknown whether or not the mayor will attend this year, but officials often use banner printing to create fun, colorful Banners at events like this.
The event is scheduled to take place from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon on this Saturday, April 13, on the Civic Green at the Newport Beach Civic Center, located at 100 Civic Center Drive.
