Members of the Newport Ocean Sailing Association are preparing for the annual Newport to Ensenada International Yacht Race, which will take place later this month.
Among the pre-race events in Newport Beach is the Skippers Luncheon at the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club. Professionals from Ullman Sails will be the keynote speakers, and will cover important topics for sailors, such as the latest in weather forecasting. Those who sailed in the race over 20 times will also be recognized.
There will also be a Skippers VIP Reception which is geared towards city officials, sponsors, and boat owners and crew. It is a fundraising event using a silent auction and raffles for the charities the association supports in Ensenada. Flyer printing companies can be used to help promote the fundraising efforts of events such as this one.
The major pre-race event is the annual Sail Away Party. Although attendees in the early days of the party wore a suit and tie for a formal dinner, the current party racers wear festive team gear, dance to live entertainment, and enjoy tasty hors d’oeuvres.
Vice Commodore John Long said these pre-sail events are designed so that participants can ensure they are prepared for the race, share tactical strategies, and enjoy the camaraderie that has contributed to the fame of this race.
The race itself will take place on Friday, April 27.
