Newport Beach Chamber names Business Person of the Year

The Chamber of Commerce in Newport Beach recently announced their pick for “Business Person of the Year.”

The honor of winning the title goes to Jim Walker, who owns The Bungalow restaurant. Steve Rosansky, the CEO and president of the Chamber, said this is the first time the organization has awarded the title to anyone. In order to qualify for consideration, a person must work with or own a business in Newport Beach, be a member of the Chamber, and should be both philanthropic and successful. The person should also be active in the affairs of the city, and affiliated with other business leaders. Ideally, the person named as the winner should also be a role model for other people in the business community.

Rosansky noted that many people know Walker simply as a restaurant owner, but he is also an active member of the Chamber, and has been with the organization for 20 years. As well as serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber for a year, he served as the Newport Beach Restaurant Business Improvement District's president for several years, and in addition, helped found Restaurant Week, which has been a highly successful event for Newport Beach.

Walker and Nancy Gardner, who was named Citizen of the Year, will be honored at a formal dinner in November. Banner printing can be used to provide suitable decorations for events like this.
