Music industry giants to appear in Newport Beach

Two music legends are coming to Newport Beach.

Steve Tyrell and David Benoit are joining forces for a fun concert. Tyrell is a record producer and singer who produced “Stardust: The Great American Songbook, Volume III,” with Rod Stewart, for which he won a Grammy. He also produced hits like “Rock and Roll Lullaby,” “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head,” and “Hooked on a Feeling.”

He is also a composer and wrote “Hold On” for Jamie Walters, “How Do You Talk to an Angel,” which was used in the TV series “The Heights,” and “It’s Only Love,” which was recorded by both B.J. Thomas and Elvis Presley. His vocal talents can be heard on the soundtrack of “Father of the Bride,” where he sings “The Way You Look Tonight.”

Benoit is a producer, composer, and jazz pianist who has put more than 25 albums on the charts since 1980. During his career, he has earned three Grammy nominations, and is the music director of the Pacific Vision Youth Symphony.

In addition, inspired by the work of the late Vince Guaraldi who scored the wonderful “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” Benoit has gone on to work both as a performer and as the music director for other animated “Peanuts” adaptations, such as “The Peanuts Movie.”
