Medical conference coming up in Newport Beach

A conference on medical aesthetics is planned that will give professionals a look at the state of the industry.

Convening organization Octane has organized its Fueling Innovation in the Medical Aesthetic Industry seminar. Octane connects capital, resources, and people to help create technology jobs and launch new businesses. It supports a capital and growth platform, and a LaunchPad accelerator.

Medical aesthetics can be defined as the procedures that lie between the cosmetics industry and cosmetic surgery. They can be thought of as “tweaks” that enhance a person’s appearance, and include such measures as fillers, medical-grade skincare, anti-wrinkle treatments, laser treatments, and the use of Platelet-rich plasma (PRP).

One source refers to these procedures as “tweakments,” but even if they are minor, they still require a great deal of training, skill, and knowledge of physiology and anatomy. This depth is what sets medical aesthetics apart from beauty treatments such as waxing and brow threading. However, medical aesthetic procedures are not as aggressive or invasive as surgery.
