Jazz artist coming to Newport Beach

A jazz guitarist is on the way to Newport Beach and is bringing his friends.

The Dave Murdy Jazz Trio comprises Dave on lead guitar, drummer Robert Jake Jacobs, and Baba Elefante playing bass. Dave is comfortable playing in several genres, including country, rock, pop, classical, and jazz, and was an original member of Kilauea, a pop/jazz band that enjoyed great success.

Dave has jammed with other jazz greats like Warren Hill, Bobby Shue, Tony Guerrero, Eric Marienthal, Brandon Fields, and Art Davis. He performed with 1960s pop artists like Jackie Deshannon and Mel Carter, and can be heard today in several ensembles, including the Wartime Radio Review, which plays Big Band hits, and the Frank Sinatra Big Band. He is also a member of The Tijuana Dogs, one of Orange County’s hottest cover bands.

Murdy also works as a session musician, and has written original music for Universal Studios parks. Dave also teaches guitar, and has written a guitar book. Organizers of events like these can use flyer printing to create handouts to advertise the performance.

The group will be at JAZz at JAX on November 10. Each patron will be required to purchase one entrée, but there is no minimum drink requirement. Prices range from $35 for the Ultra VIP section to $15 for general seating. Anyone ordering an alcoholic beverage must be at least 21 years of age, and no outside beverages can be brought in.
