Banner printing was used to create 50 Banners showcasing students from Live Oak, Sobrato, and Central High Schools which were then hung up on downtown streets. More than 650 students were featured on the Banners. The Rotary Club hoped that the Banners would inspire people to come back to the downtown area and stimulate the rebirth of economic activity.
Larry Carr from the Morgan Hill City Council was happy to see the downtown area get such an appealing facelift and once again become a centerpiece for the townspeople. He also said:
“The downtown business community has been really supportive because they see it as a way of people coming downtown and taking a look at what’s going on in Morgan Hill and they look at the Banners. So it’s really neat.”
The plan for the Banners came up during a zoom meeting between members of the Morgan Hill Rotary Club. Other community members, as well as people from the Kiwanis Club, took a whole weekend to put up the Signs. The students were mixed together so that they will feature on the same banner with students from other schools in a show of solidarity.
