Morgan Hill plans 4th of July bash

Morgan Hill is set to throw its 145th annual 4th of July celebration this year. The event has occurred every year since 1876.

The celebration has a wide variety of activities, varying from sports, to cars, to the arts.

Something for the athletes to enjoy would be one of the Freedom Runs. These include a 5k Run, 5k Walk, and a fun run of one mile for the kids. Organizers ask those who wish to participate to register before the event, as there will be no opportunity to on the day. The kids’ run starts at 7:45 am, with the 5k events beginning at 8:15 am. Participants will pick up the bib with their number at 400 Tennant Station on July 3.

The Car Cruise will follow the runs, beginning at 9:15 am. The classic vehicles will drive along several streets. The show will follow the parade, with all the entries from the cruise set up from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. There will also be an award show for the parade entries and cars.

The parade is still waiting for the Health Department to approve the return. However, applications are open for the lineup.

The Family Music Fest, a part of the celebration, takes place July 3, featuring local talent and food vendors. An Essay Contest also takes place, with the theme being “Celebrating Our Heroes”.

The night ends with fireworks, taking place on the green of a local golf course. These events take place on July 3 and July 4 in Downtown Morgan Hill. All events are free.
