Each year, Morgan Hill plays host to a festival that celebrates the humble mushroom, and plans are underway for this event to make its return this spring.
The Morgan Hill Mushroom Mardi Gras Festival may be several months away, but applications are being accepted now from vendors, sponsors and volunteers that would like to get involved. This function provides a range of benefits to the local area, including scholarship programs for graduating high school students who plan on pursuing post-secondary education.
The organizers explained that their goal is to create a family-friendly community gathering that promotes the benefits of mushrooms and their culinary use. It also supports the scholarship program and a portion of the proceeds is donated to local charities. The schedule includes a vendor area as well as entertainment, demonstrations and workshops, a beer and wine garden and special fun just for the kids.
The organizers of this annual celebration explained that they are hoping there will be a lot of community support for the activity, and there are plenty of volunteer positions that need to be filled.
