Birds can be found all around Morgan Hill, and a workshop is on the way that will give the public insight into the food these important creatures need to survive.
Those who are new to plant identification, or who just wants to brush up on their ID skills, may find the Berries for Birds outing to be a good fit for them. Ashok Jethanandani and Arvind Kumar will serve as the guides for the walk, and no previous experience is needed to benefit from the learning.
The group will head out to hike the Mayfair Ranch Trail-Longwall Canyon Trail loop, and the entire distance covered will be approximately 4.3 miles. As they go, they will be on the lookout for berries, acorns, nuts, cherries, snowberry and elderberries, and other food plants for birds. Everyone attending is advised to wear a hat and comfortable hiking shoes. RSVPs are required.
A nature hike can be both fun and informative, and may provide a chance to enjoy some environmental stewardship as well. Organizers choose to supply the attendees in an activity with simple field guides, bird Journals and other items to help them make the most of the experience, and these may be ordered from a printing services company.
