A Morgan Hill workshop will show how it is possible to raise and keep a honey bee colony, even in suburban and urban areas.
The Gilroy Beekeepers Association will be presenting a workshop at the Morgan Hill Library that will introduce the basics of the practice and promote sustainable living. It will help the attendees to decide if this is a project that will be a good fit for them, and its agenda will address a variety of topics.
The hour-long session will discuss the equipment needed to successfully raise bees, and hives – including their construction and sitting – will be covered. The group will learn how to use bee suits, gloves, and other protective gear, and sourcing these industrious insects and introducing them to their new home will also be on the agenda. Everyone will walk away with a better understanding of the practice and its associated costs, and everyone can ask questions.
A workshop offers the public an opportunity to learn about a particular topic. A brochure printing company will be happy to prepare handouts for almost any activity, and can work with most budget levels.
This introduction to the art and science of home apiculture will be on offer to the public on Sunday, May 7. It will begin at 1:30 pm at 660 West Main Avenue.
