Man fixes his vision with free surgery

Joes Heeregrave from Morgan Hill is now able to ditch his glasses after using them for 35 years, thanks to a free surgery that he received.

Heeregrave was the beneficiary of Furlong Vision Correction’s Gift of Sight Program. The program includes such Corporate Gifts as free consultations, surgeries and post-surgery visits to recipients.

The Furlong Vision Correction medical center works together with several nonprofits, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation, American Cancer Society, and Team Red, to find the year’s recipient. The program is also open to individuals who have been nominated by the local community, and ophthalmologists who operate in the area.

Heeregrave has three children and he was worked as a missionary in several countries for 10 years. He and his family just moved to California for him to work as a missionary and youth pastor at San Jose’s Cathedral of Faith. His poor eyesight has been causing him migraines for the last 20 years because he had to keep switching between glasses and contacts. After the surgery, Heeregrave expressed his gratitude in an Instagram post where he said:

“After 35 years of having to wear glasses, I am so happy and grateful that I was selected for a free Lasik surgery by Furlong Vision Correction as part of their Gift of Sight Program.”

Five other people were also lucky enough to be selected to receive free surgeries this year.
