The High Speed Rail Authority has just released a draft of its environmental impact report (EIR) for a bullet a train that will connect Morgan Hill and the San Joaquin Valley, and the public has been asked to comment.
The EIR covers the 90-miles of rail that will go from Merced to San Jose. The public is invited to give its input, ask any pertinent questions, and bring up any concerns, either via telephone, mail, email, or by attending one of the several open house meetings and hearings. Council officials will also be expected to make comments. Graphic design is a great way to visualize such projects.
Brian Kelly who is the CEO of the HSRA said:
“With the release of this first environmental document in Northern California, we are continuing to show progress on every mile of the statewide system. We look forward to hearing from the community along the route.”
A major concern that was raised when the HSRA first proposed this project was the need for the authorityto buy out private property along the route where it wishes to put the rail. The authorities have gone over four alternatives and would prefer it HSRA settles on the one that requires the fewest number of properties to buy out. These properties include 68 private homes, 66 businesses, and 40 plots reserved for agriculture.
Anyone wishing to have their say needs to do so by June 8.
