Chance to learn about mushrooms in Morgan Hill

The Morgan Hill Mushroom Mardi Gras returns this month with live entertainment, chef demonstrations, and much more.

The Mushroom Mardi Gras is a festival designed to entertain and inform. The nonprofit organization uses the festival to educate the community about the health benefits of mushrooms and uses the proceeds from the festival for scholarships for local school children. The festival has raised $10,000 to $20,000 for the scholarship programs during previous years.

The organizers have scheduled onstage entertainment and strolling performers as well as having a stage reserved for children’s performers. Craft, food, and many other vendors will be at the festival. Business owners that would like to take part should visit the website for an application. Those that only want to hand out Promotional Products will still need to apply prior to the start of the event.

A wine tasting is also planned during the festival. The sampling will be in the rose garden at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center. Participants receive a souvenir wine glass and 10 premium wines to sample for the participation fee of $30. Visit the festival website for tickets, times, and more information.

The event takes place in downtown Morgan Hill on May 26 from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm and May 27 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. There is no admission fee to attend the event or enjoy the performances.
