During the evening hours, a salt marsh can seem like it is a world away from its daytime character, and residents of Hayward have been offered an opportunity to be a part of a guided dusk exploration of Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge’s Tidelands Trail.
The route walkers will follow is approximately one and a third miles long, and along the way, the group will stop to observe the flora and fauna they encounter. Members of the group can also take photos of the landscape and other sights, and there is no charge to participate.
This opportunity for the public to enjoy a twilight visit to the refuge is open to anyone from youth to adults, but the organizers noted that it is not suitable for younger children and anyone who is under 16 will need to have an adult accompany them. The planners also noted that anyone who has physical, developmental or intellectual challenges is welcome, but they are asked to contact one of the facility’s visitor services staff personnel at 510-792-0222 ext. 363 ahead of time.
The walkers are asked to assemble at 2 Marshlands Road at 5:30 pm before heading out. A brochure printing company can provide simple field guides and other items for this type of occasion.
October 13 has been chosen as the date for this activity. It is scheduled to conclude at 7:15 pm.
