Downtown Burbank becoming hotspot for foodies

Several new restaurants have recently opened their doors in downtown Burbank, and more are scheduled to become a part of the local business community over the next few months.

So far, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, and Steak and Shake have chosen to open franchises in the vicinity of the Burbank Town center, and according to Mary Mahzoian, who is the city’s economic development manager, there is more to come. Wood Ranch BBQ and Gil and Gyu-Kaku Japanese BQQ are anticipated to be ready for diners over the coming months.

According to Mahzoian, this is a good indication of the overall economic health of the area, as restaurants want to locate in areas where they feel they will be able to be successful. This can provide a variety of spinoff benefits for other companies, such as those that provide printing services, as they can provide the different materials these types of businesses need in their day to day operations.

She further went on to say that as online shopping becomes more and more popular, eateries may soon come to predominate the business type that is seen in the downtown, as while is it possible shop on the internet, one cannot eat online.

The area has several factors that make it attractive to the food service industry. This includes the close proximity of several large retailers and office buildings, all of which provides a good sized customer base.
