Burbank workshop to offer introduction to genealogy

Lots of people are becoming interested in learning more about their roots, and a Burbank workshop can help them to get started.

With the advent of home DNA testing, it has become easier for people to learn more about their family background, and the Southern California Genealogical Society has developed its Beginning Genealogy Class to help them hit the ground running. It will give them a grounding in the fundamentals, and will also provide tips for using some of the websites that can help them.

The group will discuss genealogy standards, as well as the best practices followed by those who work in their field. They will be taught how to look for records, how to read and interpret them, how to utilize filing systems, and also what software and other apps can be useful to them. It is free for those who are already members of the Southern California Genealogy Society, while the general public will be asked to pay $10.

Attending a workshop like this can be a good way for someone who is interested in their heritage to get their feet wet. Stationery printers can craft worksheets, family tree tables, and other printed items that can be distributed to those who register for the event.

The date for this opportunity to get a strong grounding in the basics of genealogy will be offered on August 8. The location for the class will be 417 Irving Drive in Burbank.
