Burbank hosts popular radio pair

Sports radio talk show hosts Petros Papadakis and Matt “Money” Smith enjoyed a homecoming celebration on Friday, August 14 at Simmzy’s on Olive Avenue.

Simmzy’s restaurant and pub was decked out with streamers and balloons fitting for the homecoming theme and women were attired in evening gowns while men wore ties. It was the kind of event that poster printing services shine at promoting.

The popular duo is based in Burbank, but this was the first time the city was included on Papadakis and Smith’s Summer Tour. The tour is a series of remote radio broadcasts held in the Southern California area.

A DJ was on hand to supply music and the trappings of a traditional homecoming dance were everywhere. Attendees wore crowns, and a king and queen were on hand along with a homecoming court.

Fans enjoy being able to see the show as it is being broadcast, meeting Papadakis and Smith, as well as any special guest that may stop by. At the Burbank stop on the summer tour, legendary former Dodger Steve Garvey stopped by to say hello and chat with the pair.

Papadakis and Smith have been doing their show, sports with an intermingling of pop culture all delivered in a lighthearted, tongue-in-cheek manner, for over nine years. Their show is heard regularly on 570 AM from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday through Friday.
