Airport to get specialized shaving store

MenEssentials, a retail establishment built around traditional shaving accruements and accessories, will be opening its second U.S. brick-and-mortar store in Bob Hope Airport.

If everything goes as anticipated, the airport’s new shopping opportunity will open before Thanksgiving. Primarily an online store, MenEssentials opened its first physical location in Glendale in June. It is not known if the Burbank airport store will feature the same décor, which features a yellow barber’s chair.

This will coincide with ‘Movember’, an annual event designed to focus awareness on men’s health issues. Men are encouraged to grow mustaches or beards and donate money they save on shaving apparatus to charities that support men’s health. The month long event also serves as a reminder to men of the importance of regular prostate exams.

At MenEssentials, the distribution of Brochures detailing the concerns affecting men’s health could go a long way in promoting Movember, just as a color brochure detailing a company’s products can improve sales

A one-year lease for a 176-square-foot space has been approved in proximity to the terminal’s Gate A4. The location is considered a good match between travelers needing to purchase a gift for a man, and those who forgot to pack a grooming essential.

Per airport safety, straight razors and razor blades will not be available but can be purchased and shipped to wherever the customer requests.
