What's Happening in Warrington, England…

Popular Warrington chip shop reopens

One of Warrington’s best loved chip shops opened its doors to the public again recently, having been closed for nine months.

The Cantilever Chippy is located at Wash Lane in the town, and residents may be delighted to see an establishment once voted the ‘best chip shop in Cheshire’ reopen.

It is still a family-owned business, as Pantelis Petras has taken control, having relocated to Warrington from the somewhat sunnier climes of Kos specifically for that purpose.

Although the 48 year old is not a native of the town, he is far from unfamiliar with it, as he enjoyed spells as a cook in Warrington, Flint and Wigan, having first arrived in the UK in 2000.

Petras moved to Kos seven years ago to run a restaurant, which had long been his ambition, but he told a reporter from the Warrington Guardian that he missed the town:

“I left England but I have to say I prefer it here – I love the rain and it was just too hot for me in Kos.

“The people here in Warrington are also fantastic to me, I have customers of all ages and it is great to see them.”

Now that the Cantilever Chippy is open for business again, Petras will be able to use print shops in Warrington to get the menus and promotional flyers he needs. It will be open throughout the week.
