Plans submitted for new housing in Warrington area
Fresh proposals for over 1,000 houses in the Warrington area have been submitted by Cheltenham-based developers, Satnam.
The plans of Satnam envisage considerable construction. It proposes that around 1,200 homes are to be built alongside a retail outlet, a care home and a school. In addition, the initiative would see the building of sports facilities and various eateries.
If the scheme gets the green light, marketing services in Warrington could be used to promote the development. However, there are no guarantees that the idea will be accepted by the planning department of Warrington Borough Council.
Previous attempts to develop the land in question have encountered opposition from residents. A petition containing in excess of 1,000 signatures was once gathered against a different plan to make use of the site. Helen Jones, the current MP for Warrington North, is not supportive of the development and she has expressed concern about green space. Jones suggested:
It has been estimated that implementation of the plan would see a significant increase in local traffic. However, it is probable that the policy would stimulate employment, creating jobs in manufacturing, financial services and research.
As it would take well over a decade to complete the proposed development, assessment of its potential economic and environmental impact is reliant on estimates.

“The scope of this proposed development is huge and the knock on effects on surrounding areas will be considerable.”
