Monaghan becomes captain of Warrington Wolves
Joel Monaghan, the former Sydney Roosters and Canberra winger, has been chosen as the new captain of rugby league side Warrington Wolves.
This will be the Australian’s fifth season playing in the Super League and will see him assume the captaincy from his elder brother, with Michael Monaghan having retired from the game last year.
The latter shared the captaincy responsibilities with Ben Westwood, after Adrian Morley left the Wolves a year ago, but now Joel Monaghan will take the role on a full-time basis.
The changes at the club, which will also see England player Chris Hill taking on the vice-captaincy, were agreed when the team was in Tenerife for a spell of warm-weather training recently.
Like other sports clubs, Warrington Wolves frequently make use of the glossy full colour printing in Warrington and similar areas, to provide them with high quality match programmes.
The club’s rugby and coaching head, Tony Smith, stated that:
Smith went on to say that appointing Monaghan as captain of Warrington Wolves would relieve the pressure on Westwood, allowing the player to rediscover top form on the rugby field.
The 2015 Super League season will kick off in February.
