What's Happening in Warrington, England…

Futuristic workshops show off 3D printing in Warrington

A unique concept has been shown off of the Future Tech Studio School in Warrington, and it was the showcase at many events last month.

The school specialises in giving youngsters between the ages of 14 and 19 the option to study with the aim of getting qualifications that can lead to careers in different sectors, some of which include engineering, IT, and business and finance. Prospective students were given the chance to work alongside employers in many workshops.

Many of the demonstrations went towards showcasing the concept of the school. There was a demonstration for augmented reality, along with 3D printing, which must have been interesting to those considering seeking employment at one of the print companies in Warrington.

One parent said they thought the event was “really informative” and, in total, the events at the Future Tech Studio School were attended by more than 250 individuals. A team leader of the Environment Agency said that the Future Tech Studio provided a “fantastic opportunity” for working alongside young people in the Warrington region.

3D printing was not the only thing on show; youngsters were also interested in a workshop where they had to design an iBook using the Apple iPad. An environmental project involving rivers also sparked interest, along with European metal recycling and an augmented reality display.

The school will open in September of this year, where there will be places for 55 students in Year 10 and a further 55 in Year 12.
