Tamworth to celebrate summer with charity walk

Residents of Tamworth will raise money for charity this summer with a sponsored walking event.

People living and working around Tamworth are now being invited to welcome summer by supporting the St Giles Hospice charity with a new fundraising event called “Solstice Walk Your Way.”

Head of Fundraising for St Giles Hospice, Chloe Herbert, commented on the initiative:

“Our Solstice Walk is our largest fundraising event of the year and always has a really magical atmosphere – and we’re hoping to bring some of that spirit back in 2021 now that people can get together in small groups outside.”

The Solstice Walk will see those involved complete a five-kilometre walk on Saturday, June 19, or another day in June of their choosing that best suits their personal circumstances. The walk will be followed by solstice parties, which will be celebrated safely in the individual gardens of fundraisers.

Registered charities and not-for-profit organisations can sometimes offer Promotional Products like T-Shirts and stickers to those taking part in fundraising events to raise awareness of their campaigns.

While in previous years the annual charity event saw Tamworth residents walking alongside each other, the 2021 edition has been adapted to keep people safe during the pandemic and still raise funds for the hospice.

The Solstice Walk Your Own Way event is free to enter, and each participant will receive their own fundraising pack.
