An iconic venue in Tamworth is set to present a classic silent film accompanied by a soundtrack from specialist musicians.
Fans of film and music alike in Tamworth will soon be able to enjoy an innovative screening of “The Cabinet of Dr Caligari”. This November, Tamworth Castle will be presenting the famous German Expressionist film which critics have called a masterpiece. UK venues hosting cinema events often enlist reliable poster printing services to create advertisements which capture the attention and imagination of film lovers.
Made during the aftermath of WWI, The Cabinet of Dr Caligari is a piece of cinematic history, renowned for its sinister shadows, distorted sets and unnerving characters which evoke the turbulence of Europe at the time.
Produced as a silent film, director Robert Weine’s masterpiece will be accompanied by a live soundtrack at the Tamworth screening from Bristol four-piece Minima. The group specialises in adding live accompaniments to silent film screenings, and have been doing so since 2006. The quartet play a variety of instruments including cello, baritone guitars, double bass and dulcimer, as well as electronic options like drum kits and synthesisers.
The screening with music will take place at Tamworth Castle on Saturday 11th November. The Castle is located at Holloway in Tamworth, and the film is set to start at 8pm. Tickets are priced at £14 each, and a cash bar is available on the night.
