Tamworth will welcome a celebrated singer this spring.
In an event entitled “A Diva and A Piano”, one of the UK’s most popular sopranos, Lesley Garrett, will be entertaining guests with reminiscences, conversations, and song. The evening has been designed to give fans of the singer a unique insight into her life on stage. In between songs, the soprano will share anecdotes and tales from behind the scenes of her career with her accompanist, British pianist, and collaborator Anna Tilbrook.
Along with performing on both the concert and opera stage here in the UK and across the globe, Garrett has recently joined the Nico Muhly production of Marnie. Other recent stage projects have included starring in The Sound of Music and Carousel, while television has seen her on popular shows Loose Women and Strictly Come Dancing. Her travels have taken her all over the world and she has performed with a diverse range of artists, including Andrea Bocelli, Lily Savage, Renee Fleming, Michael Ball and Bryn Terfel.
Classically trained, the singer has been described as having a “powerhouse” voice.

A Diva and a Piano will take place at the Tamworth Assembly Rooms on Corporation Street on Friday, May 7. Tickets for the event are priced at £23 each.
