Richard Buxton and Lee Barber have taken time out from arranging gigs to get behind a student bar project. Promotional Drinkware from Stoke-on-Trent can be used to advertise venues in the area. Rebel Rooms was once an electronics store. The hope is that high quality food and drink will appeal to the local student population.
The venue opened its doors in early October and Buxton told Staffslive:
“I love independent cafes. In Manchester, I go to the Northern Quarter, the Lanes in Brighton, places like that. I always fancied bringing something like that to the area.”
Nicola McManus is currently the chef at Rebel Rooms and she explained that there is a gap in the market locally because of a shortage of affordable places for the target audience to visit. She stated that students appreciate venues which have the appearance of being outside the mainstream.
It is not just students who have been attracted by the pull of Rebel Rooms. One weekend, a shortage of sour dough arose because of the demand for food. This meant that the establishment was obliged to close early.
Lucy Lambourne-Gibbs is a satisfied customer because of the food quality and has commented positively on the atmosphere too. There is a plan to put in another bar within the Rebel Rooms.Get a Free Quote for Drinkware
