Stoke on Trent school achieves exceptional grade

An innovative primary school in Stoke on Trent that is attracting global interest has been graded highly by the government.

Delegates from over 160 schools both in the UK and abroad have visited Hanley’s Waterside Primary within the last couple of years. Guests from countries including the UAE and Singapore were impressed by the school’s approach to primary learning.

Schools can use brochure printing services to create informative Booklets for parents and visitors to outline teaching principles.

In a recent inspection from Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education), the school was given a grade of “outstanding”. The inspectors reported that pupils were successful learners and both well-behaved and motivated. They also noted teachers used engaging techniques and were passionate about their work.

Jo Knowles, Head Teacher at Waterside attributes the school’s success to “active learning”. She commented:

“They might be doing paired work, small group work or individual tasks. Every activity that teachers plan must involve every child.”

The Stoke on Trent school also takes a modern approach to learning, utilising the latest technology in day-to-day lessons. Each class possesses its own Google Drive allowing pupils to access online libraries, they also benefit from iPads and can make videos. QR Codes placed on “working walls”, can be scanned by students to recall video content for further learning.

The Ofsted report stated that Waterside’s pupils made substantial progress with memorable experiences of learning and that no time was wasted in lesson time.
