In a recent inspection from Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education), the school was given a grade of “outstanding”. The inspectors reported that pupils were successful learners and both well-behaved and motivated. They also noted teachers used engaging techniques and were passionate about their work.
Jo Knowles, Head Teacher at Waterside attributes the school’s success to “active learning”. She commented:
“They might be doing paired work, small group work or individual tasks. Every activity that teachers plan must involve every child.”

Each class possesses its own Google Drive allowing pupils to access online libraries, they also benefit from iPads and can make videos. QR Codes placed on “working walls”, can be scanned by students to recall video content for further learning.
