The Family Friendly Hotspots listing, which has been published annually for the last four years, rated Stoke on Trent in glowing terms, with only Wolverhampton and Plymouth finishing ahead of it.
There were a number of factors taken into account when it came to the city’s high ranking, including the affordability of family housing, the level of educational achievement in its schools, and the low levels of crime.
Mohammed Pervez, the leader of Stoke on Trent City Council, said:
“Stoke on Trent is a great place to live with affordable housing, swathes of parks and incredibly friendly and warm local people.
“Our economy is one of the fastest growing in the UK, but the city still has its character and history.”
As Pervez pointed out, the city is also enjoying significant business investment, with new enterprises being supported by the council and by services like business card printing in Stoke on Trent.
This commitment to investment in the city also applies to its schools, with the Building Schools for the Future scheme ensuring that £270 million has been ploughed into them.
Furthermore, the programme called Homes for £1 created by the city council has improved the housing situation for local families by getting over 100 empty houses in the Cobridge area into use again.
