Stoke on Trent pub wins prestigious award

An oddly named Stoke on Trent pub has been awarded with the prestigious accolade of ‘Pub of the Year’ at an October 20th ceremony.

‘Holy Inadequate’ is the name of the latest pub to be awarded the title of Stoke on Trent’s Pub of the Year by CAMRA (Campaign For Real Ale). Holy Inadequate proved itself to be more than adequate in its first year under its latest landlord, Paul Cope, who took over the pub in March of last year after it closed its doors due to a lack of custom.

However, Cope has completely turned the pub around since taking over. He spoke about the key to the success of the Holy Inadequate, saying:

“We're a destination pub for ale lovers and regulars and it's a good atmosphere. We don't have bad language and we don't have a pool table, TV or any gambling machines. People come here for a good drink and a chat."

The Stoke on Trent branch chairman for CAMRA spoke about the reasoning behind awarding the title of Pub of the Year to Holy Inadequate, saying:

“This pub has everything; it has great real ale, a good choice of beverages and a nice atmosphere.”
